Our Ethos

creatures of place was created to start a new way of designing and building.

Most homes built and re-designed today are not intended to last 50 years. They are done quickly and with materials that do not take into consideration a rapidly changing climate. There is little to no conversation on the quality of the materials used and how they may or may not effect our health and the health of future generations. Really there is no conversation around the future at all.

Like fast fashion we are living in a time of quick and easy design. But this comes at a cost. Most of the furniture in our homes are made with toxic materials. Toxic “Stain Resistant” fabrics are marketed towards families with young kids. It is time to ask more questions. What are these materials really made of? And do we really want them in our homes?

At creatures of place we seek to create spaces that spark creativity and nourish the soul, bringing consciousness and conversation to how we might live in better harmony with the natural world around us. It is our goal to use sustainable materials built to last a lifetime and strive to create homes that act as a natural extension of ourselves in connection with the earth.

This is creatures of place. We’re happy you’re here.
